The other thing I’ve noticed for those resuming after a long break is that they don’t want so much weight on their hands, crick in their neck, etc. They want to sit up. New stem or handlebar or both. That makes the seat uncomfortable, due to weight-shift. Your suspension seatpost will help there.

I may have to lower the seat a half-inch or so (I’m shrinking), but I don’t want to go with an upright posture. It bugs me to see people riding with the seat so low that they can’t even straighten out their legs. They’re losing all of their leverage.
