Actually, those idea are immemorial… been around a long time. I suspect you have never read it or else you would see how these concepts have been used for about 600 years or so. You can find the foundations in concepts like “political malice” and “political libel,” both pamphleteering styles very popular in the late 1600’s.

No, these idea have been with us a long time, just adjusted, renamed, shaken up sometimes, but the core is the same.

So if the ideas are over 600 years old, then how the hell is Alinsky a barometer of the current left? Wouldn’t he then just be another in a long line of people who’ve said similar things for centuries?

And yes, you’re right. I’ve never read Alinsky. Never felt the need to read him, either. It just never interested me at all.
