As I understand it the protesters really aren’t an organized, cohesive group with goals —is that right? They are just ripe for the picking for anyone who wants to use them?

You’ve got a lot of concerned people who aren’t sure what they think; they just feel something is wrong. Their general knowledge extends as far as Wall Street being part of the issue.

You’ve got clumps of ideologues opportunistically trying to harness the larger group: market them your ideas, get signatures, take photos of the crowd and claim “they’re all with me!”
