For one thing there’s no thumb stud or opening hole. The gap running down the middle of the blade would be fully covered by the handle when closed. It looks like an automatic knife, with a mechanism in the handle, which the State’s Attorney would have identified as illegal under MD law. Pretty sure that blogger is just making shit up.
