What I miss is frankly the New Deal consensus about the role of government. That government isn’t evil and it can in fact be used to improve our lives and that was something we all agreed upon until the right in both parties took advantage of the fact that many less well off whites were upset that liberals in both parties wanted that to mean something for people of other races, genders, and sexual orientation.

Which was sold to those less then well off whites as a way for the conservative right to gain power through them because they wanted to get away from the New Deal. And they did it as it cost them in taxes and as we see today, they don’t like their money touched especially by the poors…no matter their color.

Those idiots have been used against their own wishes for 40 plus years now and they are still too stupid to figure it out.
