And that’s why I have no tears for either Todd or Shep; in their own ways, they helped to further corrupt the American body politic that led to President Trump and helped to legitimize its actions and the actions of the GOP in Congress ever since up till now, when they each could have taken steps to make sure their audiences knew exactly what was coming and how to prevent it.

Yeah, that would have meant that, at the very least, Shep would have probably lost his job years ago instead of now and WTF knows about Todd, but they (and others) sold their souls long ago for their careers, so fuck them both…they and those in the media like them fucked us all.

Shep has had his moments over the years, I’d wager way more than Todd has ever had up to this point. But I feel my comparison to Alan Colmes was apt, he was never anything more than a shield, a way for the network to defend having far-right shitheels like Beck, Bill’O, Hannity, or Carlson by saying that the network was “balanced.” In absence of other evidence, I maintain a belief that Shep quit because whatever “freedom” was granted by execs to speak his mind was about to be curbed and he felt that was the last straw. It certainly doesn’t seem as though he had any problem with the direction of the network or the people he was expected to work with.
