I once put together a homemade edit of STV that cut out a lot of the Yosemite stuff, Uhura’s fandance, the turboshaft bit , basically any scene that made the leads look too much like buffoons, but kept the main plot and action. I only ended up trimming about 15 minutes of footage to get a 90 minute version that I didn’t have to cringe through too much while watching.

In order to make it not make my ass twitch, I’d have to cut out any reference to Sybok being Spock’s half brother, any reference to Sha Ka Ree being in the center of the Galaxy (There’s a black hole there… and it would have taken the Enterprise like 20 or 30 years to get there), any reference to the Enterprise having over a hundred decks (there’s like 26 and they are numbered top to bottom not bottom to top)… and all of the badly placed comedy that fell flat.

I don’t think what’s left would be entirely coherent.
