Snore. The standard demagogic boilerplate. That number is meaningless without the percentage of income the same 50% make. Oh, and the number are 97.1% — but the top 50% make 87.7% of income. Total taxation is barely progressive.

True, if I pay 5K on a 40K income, I take home 35K. The poor rich guy might pay 5 million on his 12 million, so he has to tough it out on his 7 million. He’s paying way over his share, no question, but it would not dissuade me from trying to get rich.
