It’s not about whether a punching can be morally justified (sometimes it can be). It’s not about whether it’s smart to wear a mini-skirt in some areas or not (sometimes it’s not smart). It’s about what you say, when you say it and whether certain comparisons are at all valid. This seems to be so obvious a point that I’m not inclined to explain further.

This is part of a nuanced discussion: rape, theft, assault are always wrong, but a person who is aware of the situation and potential dangers and still knowingly provokes an attack has to bear some (partial if however slight) share of responsibility.

It does not mean that “rape is just like car theft” or anything of the like, it just reflect the fact that human nature and human interaction at a personal, group and national/international level is very complex and has to be treated with great circumspection
