It has always been this way for Black Americans. I received my undergraduate degree from the University of GA in 1974. At the high school from which I retired, some of my colleagues had also received their undergraduate degrees from UGA, but they never minded letting me know that UGA “gave” me my diploma. A lot of what we’re seeing in regard to some Americans” perceptions about POC and women is jealousy. They’re trying to figure out how some of us have reached the levels of achievement that we’ve reached. Some who hear that most college graduates and those receiving advanced degrees today are women don’t want to believe it even though it’s true.
