My 5 year old grand niece was in class with another child last year who announced they were now a boy and is being treated as one. I share your feelings that this age is too young to make such a decision.

The same argument I heard from my religious family members (before they disowned me); he’s too young to know he doesn’t believe in God, it’s just a phase, he can’t know that at five.

If she announced “I’m a girl” no one would bat an eyelid.
