I have a Ring doorbell. I might contemplate smart lights. I will NOT:

1) Ever install a smart thermostat, or another device that might kill me;
2) Connect any (supposedly) smart appliance to the Internet.

Most days, I barely have enough intelligence to keep myself alive. I don’t trust any computer to be as smart as I am. And that’s before I get into security.

I have a Ring. The thermostats that just got installed with my new AC unit could be hooked up to the internet, but I won’t. I will never, no matter how much automation I put in, install an electric door lock.
