The issue is figuring out how to compromise with fear. How to assuage it.

There are a certain number of voters who will be hateful always and forever. Mr. Wright did not ask (and explicitly stated in the essay) that compromise with hate is unnecessary.

I did read it. Compromise with fear. Just doesn’t make sense. You give up some of your fear and I will give up… what? Something that makes you fearful? What would that be? What are those rural voters afraid of? Minorities is one thing. Where is the compromise that will make them less fearful that is at all acceptable? Who do we toss under the bus to make them less fearful? As if that is even possible. That is but one example. I can’t think of any that make any more sense.
