The dominant religion in the USA, Christianity, is extremely patriarchal. There are days when I just want to throw up my hands and say “I’m completely out of here” because of the way women are treated in the name of Jesus. The glee Evangelicals had over Kennedy’s retirement very nearly pushed me over the edge.
