Am I the only one that is thinking Kavanaugh is a sacrificial lamb. With him being such a shitty person, and the Republicans knowing about Dr. Ford, they threw him to the wolves anyway, and when he doesn’t get the job (pleeeeease????), they’ll offer up someone even worse than him morally and judicially that doesn’t have any allegations against him/her to make it seem like they are totally awesome?

They win if Kavanaugh gets the nomination, and they win when they offer up someone that doesn’t appear to be as shitty a person.

Nah. The only real thought behind picking Kavanaugh was that he was the only one on the list with such an expansive written view of executive power and immunity. That’s why Trump desperately wants him and the GOP is in lockstep with Trump, there is no deeper strategy at play.

Also the ones who are worse on abortion like Amy Coney Barrett also make it harder for Murkowski and Collins to confirm, though the fact that she’s a woman might make that bitter pill easier for them to swallow.
