It is so well done. I really want to learn more about Gorbachev’s deputy that went with Valery to Chernobyl. I also like how they explain the science.

Living here as I do in the eastern part of the Czech Republic, I’ve wondered in the past what would’ve happened if that anticipated radioactive steam explosion hadn’t been prevented.

Yeesh. It’s disturbing to think about. There’s a good chance (from what I can gather) that it’d have been the worst disaster in human history, leaving vast swathes of Eastern Europe essentially uninhabitable.

As it was, Eastern Czech Republic got a pretty good wallop of radioactive fallout from the Chernobyl disaster.
