My grandfather and his two brothers served, one in Europe, one in both, and my grandfather in the Pacific. They call returned. He became an alcoholic, and they found him dead in a creek when I was six months old.

Two of my uncles served, returned physically unscathed, mentally as well as far as I remember (which is not very much). Dad worked as a steel roller at US Steel Gary, 4F with flat feet.
