All the “Obama was weak in response to Crimea” takes were pushed by right-wingers such as Charles Krauthammer and the Brookings Institute.

Unless we were going to go to war with Russia, there wasn’t much Obama could do beyond what he did.

That action saw a number of Russians sanctioned by the USA seizing their property here, Russia ejected from the G-8, loan guarantees to Ukraine, suspension of cooperation agreements with Russia’s nuclear energy firm Rosatom, and a boycott by the American delegation to the 2014 Sochi Winter Paralympics, which was to be led by Tammy Duckworth.

I’m not saying that I disagree. I’m saying that there are a lot of legit stuff to bash Trump over, but him not doing more vs Russia regarding the Ukraine isn’t one of those things unless we’re also willing to say that Obama didn’t do enough. We can’t have it both ways.
