re: #213 Belafon

Having grown up on movies where tarantulas take over whole towns, a shot will turn someone into a snake, keeping someone’s eyes open for long periods will brainwash them, and a giant battle station can be destroyed by two rockets angling down a tube at the last moment (a world that has both AI and yet people have to fly their fighters in to fire conventional rockets) , and other, similar, things, I don’t go into movies thinking I’m going to hold them to some high standard of technical accuracy.

To me, the most implausible part of 2012 was the two main characters acting like they had never gotten a divorce at the end, especially after her husband was crushed.

I read years ago that the original concept for 2012 was a parody of all disaster movies; and certain scenes seemed to fit right in with that concept. It was intended to be way over the top and it was. In any case, I don’t believe his ex was married to plastic surgeon, but that they were living together.
