Because it’s the local residents who are the real threat here…right…The overreaction is part of the act. Need to show we’re serious about these kinds of assholes, so we’ll inconvenience the locals for a few days to reassure them they’re safe.

It is still an active crime scene, and they don’t want people wandering around who don’t live in the area.
