ABC News reports that the shooter was 24 years old, armed with four weapons and had bulletproof clothing.

Also, from CNN: the school that this occurred at DID have a security system in place to restrict access to the building, and the shooter did somehow circumvent it.

24 years old so likely not a parent then.
