3) Making America Great Again. It’s already great, warts and all - and striving to make it better and more inclusive doesn’t mean things are getting worse. White angry guys who think others getting rights they’ve had all along aren’t losing any rights or privileges, but they sure are making sure that others wont be able to exercise their rights - through voter ID and other suppression methods - which also hit poor white folks too (since there are far more poor whites in sheer numbers than any other demographic of poor even if PoC are disproportionately poor).

Look, I really like America. I’d have a hard time giving a full-throated defense of America’s moral greatness over time. Great in size and influence on world events, yes. Great as in…we do things that are good because they are good…I’m going to say outside of the Civil War, the Civil Rights Movement, and electing Obama, we’ve been pretty effing murky.
