The author of that piece (piece of what? You decide!) actually advises paying cash “if you can” when you go to the doctor. Actual line “my insurance card said ‘Americans Express’ on it”.

But the whole point of it is that health care exists in a market economy. And something something we should make sure doctors like his can have pictures of one of their ferraris on their office wall.

I suspect if the cost (both time and money) of becoming a doctor wasn’t so high, we would probably have more doctors, which by husband logic would mean lower prices. Of course, there’s no real argument in the piece to find ways of getting more doctors
