DINGDINGDING!! We have a winner! Libertarians and Libertarian-leaning Conservatives want to live in the modern America that Liberalism built and not pay for it. They want roads, they want police, fire, and national defense, they want disaster relief (if the disaster hits them); they don’t want people begging in the streets, they don’t want the economy going through the cycles of boom and crash it went through before 1930, they don’t want poor people dying in the streets, they don’t want old people living in cardboard boxes under bridges.

They just have no idea how to achieve that without the modern state, and they get to believe their silly fantasies that they can have all this and no taxes because nobody will ever actually put that into action.

and as i said above their method is to first strangle receipts (lower taxes). they think that inevitably must lead to slashing budgets. after thats done when there isnt enough money left to pay for even the meager parts of govt they want, up go the deficits, which all of a sudden dont matter.

its not monetary policy
its mostly short-sighted more for me policy. the long term posterity be damned
