The existence of The Memo was supposed to be the big deal, that the House GOP had this document that showed all sorts of “abuses” by the FBI, which Cobb would argue was evidence that the agency is under a cloud of “controversy” and thus any evidence produced by its investigations rendered “suspect.”

Now? Now its going to be released and the GOP left trying to defend Carter Page.

A similar example would be Joe McCarthy’s “list of communist sympathisers.” It’s the existence of the list that’s the proof, not what’s on it.
