The death rate from COVID would likely be lower if more people had had access to better health care before the epidemic hit.

And our entire for-profit approach to healthcare is not designed to cope with this situation, whereas a more “socialized” approach would likely be.

The counter-argument would be all the nations with universal healthcare systems which are struggling to deal with the unstoppable force of a novel virus meeting the immovable object that is a large retiree population.
