Blair ran Labour more like the Tories…he was a Clintonesque and moved the entire party to the center. Gordon Brown has been ineffective…..sorta like John Major was after Thatcher. It’s odd that when I lived in London in the 80’s, Neil Kinnock was a good old Socialist and ran (and lost) on those merits. Now, the Labour Party is way more centerist. But, the Democrats who used to be more Centrist are looking more and more like the Labour Party of the past a la Neil Kinnock. Odd how things are turning out. Europe, in general, is lurching right while the USA is turning the other way.

Both main parties in the UK have moved closer to the centre in recent years - I actually think the same thing has happened in the USA, the difference being that the rhetoric of the ‘grassroots’ has become more extreme on both the Democrat and Republican side.
