Ah that sucks, man, it sounded like you were excited to recruit new people to the gig. I know a couple of places with nifty stuff going on— you’re a programming/project manager, right?

People manager - QA is my specialty, but I’ll look into other areas of management. I like people so I’m good at keeping them motivated and productive. I was excited about the opportunity to rape HP of its talent when I left, but it became obvious within a few weeks of starting that they sold me a story that wasn’t all there. My boss hired me to help establish process and rein in a very cowboy-developer group…which I did, in part by setting boundaries with other groups in the company who needed dev/qa people to help them, got the PMs to alter their release schedule so there were two cycles and not one big one, etc…but during that time they froze hiring, and two weeks ago started making cuts. I figured I would be part of that because he’d stopped discussing shit with me.
