Alright. I’m going to head out and see a very nervous 16 year old’s first piano recital— a friend of mine’s kid. He sent me two texts about it yesterday, and I think the encapsulate the mind of an intellectual 16 year old pretty well.
“Excited about performance tomorrow think I can really do this. Weird how its so much more intimidating with people watching, like I’m seeing myself through their eyes.”
Followed by:
“Oh my god what if there’s a hot girl there and she looks at me? What the hell do I do then?”
I remember being that age, when just being looked at by a member of the opposite sex prompted an existential crisis.
