It really looks to me as if CCJ’s lawyers are 1) completely out of their depth, and 2) burdened with a client who thinks he can do whatever he wants to with no consequence. I suspect CCJ just hired some schmo, expecting either that Gawker would settle immediately, or he’d get access to all kinds of stuff in discovery that he’d then publish.

It’s like he has no concept that the things might not go his way.
