Perhaps pretending two very dissimilar things (guns and intellectual property) are the same and pretending an organization has no right to license a trademark (because … NRA) or character was a problematic way to promote sensible gun policy. Just maybe.
Could it be that painting a safety program with the same brush as the most egregious Wayne LaPierre policies was a mistake? It was just an elaborate gag. Far more comedic than helpful.
