I think a bunch of people got spooked by the backlash against a polished and accomplished black man, no matter how well he did. In fact, it seemed like the better he did the more hate was pumped up. And that hate was rolled up in a ball with everything thrown at Hillary Clinton since she was first lady of Arkansas, and when despite it all, she won the popular vote by a considerable margin, she somehow lost a few northern industrial states with Republican governors by very slim margins. So SOME people are probably thinking it is too soon for a woman or PoC. Gotta have a white man in there again! And I wasn’t against some of the white men in the race either. Just think enough people got spooked to pull back and get cautious.
