Kook alert!

Jesse Ventura on Sarah Palin, 9/11 and His Political Future

The ever-colorful Jesse Ventura, former pro wrestler, former action movie actor, former governor of Minnesota, and current conspiracy theorist, had some interesting things to say about Sarah Palin, 9/11 and his own possible political future.

During a recent interview on Piers Morgan’s CNN show, Ventura opined that Palin would likely be the Republican nominee in 2012 and would go head to head with President Barack Obama in the general election. Ventura was not very enthusiastic about Palin’s chances in the general election or of her virtues as a candidate or potential president.

In another interview, on “Good Morning America,” Ventura opined that former Vice President Dick Cheney knew about the 9/11 attacks in advance and allowed them to happen as an excuse to go to war in the Middle East. Ventura is an adherent of the conspiracy theory, much refuted and much derided, known as “9.11 Trutherism.” The theory suggests the George W. Bush administration either faked the 9/11 attacks in some fashion or knew of them in advance and allowed them to happen. 9/11 Trutherism has joined Obama Britherism (the theory that the president was born in Kenya and is hence not qualified to be president) as the two main conspiracy theories of the 21st century.

Ventura also suggested he would be willing to run as Congressman Ron Paul’s running mate, whether Paul won the Republican nomination or decided to run (preferred by Ventura) as an independent. A Paul/Ventura ticket would certainly be colorful, combining as it would Paul’s peculiar brand of 18th century style libertarianism and Ventura’s residual Reform Party/conspiracy nut ideology.

Heh.
