We had a Golden who LOVED retrieving tennis balls. Twice.

That is, throw the ball once, he’d bring it back.

Throw it again, he’d bring it back.

Throw it a third time, and he’d watch it fly and then look at you like, “Jesus, dude - I brought that damn thing back TWICE! Do you want it or not?”

So, the ivy in our back yard was full of unretrieved tennis balls. Then we dogsat a Golden who was OBSESSED with tennis balls. She found THIRTEEN tennis balls in the ivy. She could play fetch till your damn arm fell off.

Our Golden thought she was nuts.

My college roommate’s dog loved fetch so much he’d play it all by himself.

Drop the ball down the stairs. Go get it, bring it back. Drop it again…
