Are you sure? 2020 should be another good year for Democrats nationally, and Beto has already prepared the field with his strong 2018 run, creating a statewide network of enthusiastic volunteers and strong name recognition. Point is, the Democrats would have a much better shot at winning the Senate if they won Texas, and Beto is their best shot at winning Texas, whereas there are any number of Democrats who could beat Trump. Plus Beto is young enough that he could run for President 8 years from now after gaining some valuable D.C. experience as a Senator.

Cruz is not liked here. He just happened to be the incumbant with the R next to his name. There were a lot of Republicans that crossed over because Cruz sucks so bad, but not enough. There were plenty of people on my Facebook timeline, including my brother, who had plenty of justifications for voting against Beto, including that he’s supported by Pelosi and coastal liberals.

Unless the GOP sends us into another Depression, Cornyn will not lose.
