Sooo much this. I used to think campaigns were way too long, but now I am glad for the level of vetting our candidates get. Right now my view is “let a thousand flowers bloom.” Anyone who wants to run, show us what you’ve got.

I do look askance at old white guys right now. Not that I would never vote for one (I would vote even for Bernie if he were running against Trump). But the excitement and energy unleashed by the younger, less white, more female midterms is such a force of nature, I’d hate to see it squashed by playing it safe with someone like Biden.

I really think it’s key that we have new perspectives which is why I’m so excited to see such a diverse field developing not just in race and ethnicity but gender and age too. Multiple women and women of color at that running will be the new norm and that’s great.
