I guess it was dumb to post based on a tweet from an opinion I haven’t even read. But I’ll own it. I stand by my other points. My extended family were reliable Dems in my dad’s generation (farmers in Illinois), but the next generations became increasingly attracted to local Republicans who then took that support to presidential elections. Their kids (in their 20s and young 30s) became Trumpists. The message was lost in there somewhere.

Sounds like the switch occurred when Democrats started openly supporting minority rights, like what happened here in Texas.
