My guess about the bold was that he was counting ads run by local affiliates as part of the show’s total revenue, even if they’re solely ads for local businesses and such. But that’s ad revenue that can only keep those stations going for so long. If these ads stay gone for an extended length of time, those affiliates are gonna start to demand action, if not just drop his program altogether.
The thing is, most of the stations that run Rush are ClearChannel corporate stations, not independents/competing radio chains; that may not sound like it’ll hurt Rush that much, but Rush is a “halo” show for CC stations.
If advertisers are dropping and avoiding Rush like the plague, those local program and sales directors for those CC stations are going to be raising holy hell when this affects the rate cards for the rest of their schedule.
