fatty was acquitted in the regular trial although this did not take the stigma off of him and he couldn’t really work during the 20s
he outlived the scandal, though, and in 1932 made a series of two-reelers for warner bros, with shemp howard among the actors. these were successful enough for warners to sign him up for a full length movie in june 1933. fatty announced to the press “this is the best day of my life”
that night he died of a fatal heart attack at the age of 46
