Years ago I had the discussion with my mom about how most of our religious traditions from Christmas and Easter were lifted pretty much wholesale from pagans. She’s not particularly religious - the type of Catholic that you can set your calendar to her attendance of midnight mass - but she did not like hearing that.

I suspect most Christians don’t like hearing that because it means they have to question their faith, and there’s only a very small percentage of Christians who can abide doubt in their faith.
