The hostility towards the Romani seems to be an uniting spot among the Eastern European peoples I’ve noticed sigh. Honestly, what I enjoy more about music compared to sports is that there’s not as much hostility involved if you have a different preference. Like yeah there’s some bands I don’t like but I realize that”s subjective. My dad, myself, and my brother were talking the other night about how we can appreciate Prog Rock but also the raw energy of Punk too.

A British folkie was telling me that Bluegrass has been co-opted by Northern Irish Folk bands because they do not want to be associated with Irish folk music because it is to nationalist and Republican.

So they go as far as to claim that Bluegrass music was invented in Northern Ireland (its Scotch-Irish heritage is undeniable, but the claim is ridiculous) but now I guess that Bluegrass bands are a common fixture at Ulstermen rallies and the like.

What a fucked up place and a fucked up thing to do with music that is, like almost all American music, a racial and cultural hybrid.
