I used to adore FDR fwiw but I’m more nuanced on him. Appreciate the New Deal but know groups were thrown under the bus to get southern votes and of course internment.

It’s a lot like the Founders, if you judge them by modern standards, they’re at best hypocrites and at worse, very terrible people for the most part. If you judge them by the standards of their time, they’re less terrible. And as crazy as it seems, you can even say the same for Clinton, in a period within all of our lifetimes (history got really fast after the internet).
