I’m going to disagree with you on that one. Those blue boxes were a staple in my household, both growing up, and as a cheap easy tasty food when Mrs. Fish and I were broke-as-fuck newlyweds. I’ll grant you that real mac and cheese tastes a whole hell of a lot better, but Kraft Mac and Cheese is a strong contender for “best cheap-ass food in existence”.
In my student days, you could get seven packets of ramen noodles for a buck, eight if they were on sale. That and a block of tofu, some onions, eggs and some cabbage (broccoli if it was on sale) was pretty much my staple broke-ass student diet for a long time.
