They’re probably already prepping the PR to claim just that….

Though as the dK piece points out, the recall should NOT really be as close as it likely will be, but that the main problem with defeating a relatively unpopular initiative is the usual one - fervent/fanatical support among the minority, apathy/disinterest among the majority. Rather like what happened with Proposition 8 - though unfortunately, there is no court recourse (AFAICT) to a gubernatorial recall.
Apparently, though, the thought of having an idiot like Larry Elder in the Governor’s Mansion seems to have frightened a lot of voters into action…
