Plus what’s been learned since is contracting the disease or getting the vaccines wanes over the years, and measles seems to have the ability to wipe out all immunity to any diseases.

I am never going to forget going through my second case of mumps in 2012, or my second case of scarlet fever in 2008.

Similarly, shingles is a disease adults can get when the immune response to the chicken pox virus has faded. Which is why there’s a vaccine for it that’s administered to adults. I had chicken pox as a kid, as the kid’s vaccine was then extremely new. I’ll probably be making sure to get the shingles vaccine when I get to be of the age when it is recommended (the US FDA currently recommends it for adults aged 60+).
