Trains cannot stop on a dime, no matter how hard the engineer slams on the brakes. Even if the subway was slowing down for the station, that poor soul was a goner. His only chance was either to lay flat down between the rails or have quick-witted (and strong) by-stander(s) pull him up, if he managed to get close enough to the platform.

I feel bad for everyone involved, except the Post. They should have run the story without the photo.
