Right. I mean I know it sounds insensitive but at some point, we have to move on. I know that comes off insensitive to the victims and their families but there’s just something about still acting like it was yesterday seventeen years later that bugs me. Maybe it’s because I don’t like what 9/11 was used for in the immediate years after.

My local paper (WHICH SUCKS) devoted most of the front page today to… the 17th anniversary of 9/11?

It would be a bigger deal if they didn’t have so small a staff now that pretty much every day, they fill up most of the front page with big graphics and a single story, which often isn’t breaking news.

It was kind of refreshing, by contrast, to see the entire NY Post front page devoted to the Jets, while the Daily News did a small “WE’LL NEVER FORGET” and had actual news on the rest of the front page. New York knows how to move forward.

I will never wake up on a September 11 without having some visceral memory of the day. But it’s fine that my kids don’t, and why would I *want* them to wake up 70 years from now traumatized by something they weren’t even alive for?
