People trying to get rid of daylight savings time piss me off. People have spent decades of their lives trying to get the software right to make this shit work and now it mostly does.

And now we’re just going to throw all this hard work in the trash.

Infuriating.

Anyway, the software would still work.

Most cell phones get their time from cell towers, which are calibrated to the NIST. NIST’s time broadcasts on WWV or WWVH have a bit which says “Daylight Saving Time.”

Not every area uses Daylight Saving Time anyway, so operating systems like Windows have a checkbox to click it off. Microsoft also has to push an update for the dates it starts and ends.

For the clocks in my house, none of them set automatically. I have to reset all of them twice a year.

As for agricultural areas, livestock don’t pay attention the the whinging of engineers and all their hard work to make Daylight Saving Time work in California, but not in Arizona, except on the Navajo Reservation, but not on the Hopi Reservation inside it.

Daylight Saving Time in northern areas mean children are waiting for school buses in full dark (and it’s also colder because it’s full dark).

Most of the landmass outside North America and Europe does not use Daylight Saving Time. Only a minority of the world’s population actually uses DST.
