re: #200 Backwoods_Sleuth

The lawyers who wrote up that letter ought to be ashamed of themselves for not actually reading the Twitter TOS and rules of use.

We may suspend or terminate your accounts or cease providing you with all or part of the Services at any time for any or no reason, including, but not limited to, if we reasonably believe: (i) you have violated these Terms or the Twitter Rules, (ii) you create risk or possible legal exposure for us; or (iii) our provision of the Services to you is no longer commercially viable. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you by the email address associated with your account or the next time you attempt to access your account.

Twitter can and will ban people who establish multiple accounts for exactly what Chucky did.

Serial Accounts: You may not create multiple accounts for disruptive or abusive purposes, or with overlapping use cases. Mass account creation may result in suspension of all related accounts. Please note that any violation of the Twitter Rules is cause for permanent suspension of all accounts. [emphasis added]

Twitter can and will ban people (including Chucky via the revolving door suspension) for engaging in behaviors that include doxing, lying, stalking, harassing, or otherwise being a smear merchant.

You may not engage in targeted abuse or harassment. Some of the factors that we take into account when determining what conduct is considered to be targeted abuse or harassment are:
if you are sending messages to a user from multiple accounts;
if the sole purpose of your account is to send abusive messages to others;
if the reported behavior is one-sided or includes threats

That Chucky didn’t bother to read this isn’t surprising. That his lawyers didn’t? This reads like something put together in the hopes of someone unsophisticated might cave in and do what the guy with the .Esq wrote. A lawyer at Twitter, on the other hand, would laugh it off, and reply with the TOS and rules of use, quoting section and verse.

Or that Chucky thinks that Twitter owes him a living? Really? That’s absurd.

That’s like me saying that should I be banned from here for attacking and threatening other posters, that I can sue Charles for losing my livelihood because I no longer have the right to post here (on a privately owned/operated website that isn’t a government entity).
