re: #234 The Ghost of a Flea

And I’m not being a flappy ponce with language with that last line.

The single best explanation for all these fucking idiots posing with guns, making up gun-use fan-fic, doing stupid stupid things with tools designed to kill…is that these are not at all serious people. They’re just fucking having fun, feeling powerful, feeling the erotic frisson of “yeah, I could kill some shit…let’s go shoot a bleeding 3-D target shaped like a woman sold under the product name ‘The Ex’.”

It even explains the simultaneous vomit-wave of pedantry—Ia! Ia ! Clip versus magazine—and the can’t-wipe-their-asses pageant of fucking up trigger discipline, shooting at shit full of tannerite, not storing their weapons properly…the entire clown orgy of incompetence and no-shit-giving that continually racks up a body count. Pageantry has replaced competence.

Pageantry has always impressed the masses. Participating in the pageantry can be a rush for many people. Maybe they could just participate in fancy dress parades (Mummers maybe?) instead of messing around with guns.
